Passengers Delayed After Two Planes Collided at LaGuardia Airport

On Tuesday, two planes clipped each other at LaGuardia Airport in New York City, which caused damage to both aircraft and delays for passengers at the facility.
According to ABC New York, an American Airlines plane was moving from Gate D at Terminal B when it struck an American Eagle aircraft operated by Republic Airlines that was already at the gate with no passengers onboard at the time.
The American Airlines flight did have passengers onboard during the incident, but no injuries were reported. The accident took place at around 1:30 p.m. local time.
Officials from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey revealed that the winglet of one plane hit the stabilizer on the other, causing damage to each aircraft. The passengers on the American Airlines flight disembarked and were transferred to different flights.

“We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience, and have re-accommodated them on a new aircraft that is en route to Miami,” an American Airlines spokesperson said in a statement to ABC New York.
As a result of the incident, 97 passengers were transferred to Flight #1365 which departed at departed at 2:45 p.m. local time, and the other 56 passengers were transferred to Flight #4548 which departed at 2:35 p.m. local time.
