Thanksgiving Travel 2017 Weather Forecast
Impacting Travel Donald Wood November 22, 2017

With the most travelers since 2005 expected to hit the road for Thanksgiving, traffic will likely be terrible wherever you go. Luckily, Mother Nature will provide people with favorable weather across much of the United States for the holiday.
The Northeast and parts of the Mid-Atlantic will experience rain early Wednesday morning as people begin their travel plans, but Weather.com expects the bad weather to clear out quickly, giving way to partly sunny skies and cool temperatures.
Heading into Thanksgiving and beyond, a cold front is moving in and bringing a drop in temperature. As a result, parts of Pennsylvania, western New York, New England and Michigan could see light snowfall.
The rain and possible snow are expected to have a minor impact on travel.
For those in New York City planning on a visit to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, cold temperatures are expected, but low wind and plenty of sunshine should result in ideal conditions for the annual event.
In the Midwest, wind chills are expected to be very low Wednesday as the cold front moves to the east, bringing temperatures in the 20s, according to Accuweather.com. The chances of rain are very low, giving way to favorable weather conditions for those flying or driving to their destinations.

While the weather looks pleasant throughout most of the U.S., the Pacific Northwest will be dealing with several storms bringing heavy rain and flooding. An estimated 2-5 inches of rain has already fallen in the region and another 1-3 inches is possible through Friday.
A flood watch remains in effect for northwest Washington through Thursday afternoon, and the storms could result in flight delays in the coming days for the region. The wet forecast will also result in slower driving conditions.
Regardless of where you’re heading for Thanksgiving, make sure to be safe on the road and give yourself enough time to get to the destination safely.
