Travel Impacted by Winter Storm Cleanup Efforts Throughout East Coast

The winter storms which ravaged parts of the United States over the weekend continued to cause travel headaches Monday morning, as the major cleanups at airports, train stations and highways across the Southeast and into the Northeast wrapped up.
According to WRAL.com, all but 10 flights resumed out of Raleigh-Durham International Airport Monday after flights were grounded all day Sunday at the facility. Passengers impacted by the delays and cancellations over the weekend were finally set to reach their destinations.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that operations at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport were returning to normal Monday after hundreds of flight cancellations and delays over the weekend.
Delta Air Lines canceled dozens of flights Sunday due to the winter storms, and while most passengers have already been re-accommodated, there will be many people being rebooked Monday after being stranded during the weekend.
The delays and cancellations also worked their way up the East Coast to major airports such as Philadelphia International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport and Logan International Airport. By Monday, most flights were back on schedule and airports were fully operational.
The winter weather also impacted rail travel, as Amtrak announced several changes to its normal schedules. On Monday, Amtrak canceled Northeast Regional trains 110 and 111 (New York City - Washington, D.C.), Carolinian Trains 79 and 80 (New York City - Charlotte) and cut operations for Palmetto Train 89 and 90 to run between New York City and Washington, D.C. instead of New York City and Savannah, Georgia.
As for travel on the roads along the East Coast, sub-freezing temperatures have made driving dangerous and all commuters are advised to use extra caution Monday. Accidents were frequent in the Southeast and along the I-95 corridor during the weekend, causing congestion throughout the impacted regions.
Regardless of where you are traveling Monday, exercise caution at all times and allow yourself extra time to get to your destinations.
