Two Planes Clip Wings at Chicago O’Hare

An American Airlines Airbus A321 clipped the wing of another aircraft on the runway at O’Hare International Airport on Friday night, prompting a response by local fire and police teams.
American Airlines Flight 1162, bound for Los Angeles, was taxiing down the runway at approximately 8:30 p.m. Friday night, when it “came in contact” with SkyWest Airlines American Eagle Flight 3047, which had just arrived from Rochester, Minnesota.

No one was hurt in the incident, according to Chicago’s WGN 9 TV, but the SkyWest plane did “sustain some damage.”

“We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience, and will be rebooking them on a new aircraft to Los Angeles,” said American Airlines in a statement.
The incident caused minimal impact on flight operations according to Chicago’s Department of Aviation.
