A video has surfaced showing a rather bizarre moment that took place on a Southwest flight from Birmingham to Dallas, which features a flight attendant possibly succumbing to the effects of medication.

The following video found its way to Live Leak (h/t Fox News) thanks to a poster who offers the following: "Prior to recording the video, the attendant was speaking into the handset, but had no idea there was no audio, until he pressed the mic button. It was then that the passenger reached for the phone (To record the moment)."

As you will see shortly, the attendant gets on the microphone and slowly devolves into what looks like a brief slumber.

It's hard to really hear what he is saying because of the cabin sounds, but the poster gives us a play-by-play of the moment: "The attendant slurs and forget his words at around the 00:20, before dozing off and letting his hand with the microphone slowly lower down, until abruptly waking himself. He tries to return the handset to the holster but lets it fall to the seat, before he gets the wobbles as he stands."

Mirror has a bit more on the peculiar turn flight 464 took. But rest assured that it is being investigated.

And, thanks to a statement procured by the publication, we may have an inkling as to what caused the odd behavior.

The statement reads, via Mirror: "Due to a concern raised by a Customer, we had supervisors meet flight 464 upon arrival into Dallas from Birmingham to assess a Flight Attendant onboard. Although the Captain onboard the flight and supervisors on the ground did not witness or detect any unusual behavior, the Employee acknowledged a potential reaction to new medication prescribed by his physician. We made the proactive decision to remove the Employee from duty for the remainder of the day."

We have to assume the medication might include some warning of subsequent drowsiness. Perhaps it should also include a cautionary reminder not to work any heavy machinery, or lead an airplane full of passengers in safety instructions.

As reported, Southwest acted extremely swiftly to ensure its attendant was removed from the plane while the medication worked its way through his system.

Hopefully, he found a place to catch forty winks away from the limelight of passengers' smartphones.
