G Adventures Beefs Up Local Living Collection for 2014
Tour Operator G Adventures David Cogswell December 19, 2013

No one just wants to pass through anymore. Today’s travelers want to dig in, experience the culture, meet the people, and eat what they eat.
G Adventures released its new brochure for the 2014 edition of its Local Living collection, a series of tours based on the idea of settling into a home-base accommodation and exploring the culture and cuisine of the destination, getting the feeling of what it’s like to live the way the locals do.
The itineraries are designed in the hub-and-spoke mode, with a center headquarters from which to explore the surrounding areas.
Clients have the pleasure of unpacking and repacking only once for the whole trip.
“Local Living utilizes non-tourist accommodation, including farmhouses, agriturismos and remote community stays, facilitating access to places and experiences previously unattainable by individual travelers and couples by joining them up with other like-minded people to share the cost and experience,” says Lisa Warner, G Adventures’ director of international marketing.
The Local Living series is created with foodies in mind and most of the programs include cooking lessons or demonstrations with local culinary experts to provide a window into local cuisine.
The company is adding five new tours to the Local Living series for 2014, including an Iceland adventure featuring the Northern Lights, a Thailand Hill Tribes experience, a Kenya program with encounters with the Masai people, and two new Italy programs, one in Sorrento and one on the Amalfi Coast.
