Tour Operators Offer Packages For 2014 College Bowl Games
Tour Operator Tauck David Cogswell December 09, 2013

Today is the busiest day of the year if you’re a sports tour operator.
The college bowl matches were just announced Sunday night and tour operators are offering packages to meet the demand of sports fans who want to follow their favorite teams to their respective college bowl games.
Golden Sports Tours offers packages to all the 30-plus college bowl games and pays travel agents 13 percent commissions.
According to Steve Parry, president, packages for the BCS (Bowl Championship Series) National Championship Games are usually the biggest sellers, but this year the Rose Bowl itself is sizing up to be the most popular.
First place Florida State will face second place Auburn in the BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 6 in Pasadena, Calif.
“The BCS is typically the biggest,” says Parry, “but this year there’s a big demand for the Rose Bowl itself. It’s busier than BCS. A lot has to do with who is playing. If it was located in Miami, with Florida State and Auburn [from Alabama] playing, it would be much bigger. When it’s in California, as it is this year, it takes some people out because of the cost and availability to travel to Pasadena.”
Funjet Vacations, based in Milwaukee, is offering packages to follow the Wisconsin Badgers to their college bowl game in Orlando. The packages are for Dec. 29 through Jan. 1, 2014.
Priced at $1,799 per person packages include chartered roundtrip nonstop airfare to Orlando from Madison, Wisconsin; a three-night stay at the Hilton Orlando; an end zone Capital One Bowl ticket for the game on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014; a ticket to the official Wisconsin pre-game tailgate party; roundtrip transportation between airport and hotel; transportation to the official University of Wisconsin pep rally and to the game. Funjet also offers land-only packages for the event.
Tauck offers a Rose Bowl event package. It was one of the first of Tauck’s event packages.
The Celebration of Roses Event is a five-day package that includes grandstand seats for the Rose Bowl Game and other activities that provide an immersion in the Los Angeles area, including a welcome dinner, cocktail reception and comedy show, visits to the site of origin of the floats in the parade, the Getty Museum, Grauman’s Chinese Theater, Santa Monica Beach, the Beverly Hilton, the parade and the game itself.
The five-day package is prices from $3,990 per person double.
Sports Empire is offering packages for the Rose Bowl and the BCS Championship and will provide custom FIT packages for any of the other college bowl games.
The Rose Bowl package is Dec. 31 to Jan. 2, 2014. It includes two nights at the Four Points by Sheraton Los Angeles, a two-day midsize car rental and an end zone game ticket.
