Tour Operators Pile on Price Reductions in Post-Holiday Season

The holidays are over, but tour operators are trying to keep the buying spirit alive by offering January savings.
Insight Vacations is offering a 7.5 percent Early Payment Discount for bookings completed and paid in full by March 31. The savings can rack up to as much as $1,835 per person.
General Tours World Traveler is offering $1,400 savings for Galapagos cruises booked by Jan. 31 for travel through April 2015. The savings applies to three-, four- and seven-night cruises on board the 24-cabin ship La Pinta. The cruises are combined with land tours of Ecuador with sightseeing in Quito and accommodations in Casa Gangotena, a luxury boutique hotel. Galapagos is combined with Machu Picchu on the 14-day Machu Picchu and the Galapagos.
Extraordinary Journeys Africa is offering a seven-night Tanzanian Safari for the price of five nights.
Originally priced at $7,900 per person, with the reduction the program starts at $6,500 per person and includes game drives and most meals. The program was designed to promote Kuro, Nomad Safari’s stunning new luxury camp in Tarangire National Park in the heart of the Serengeti.
Kensington Tours is offering a reduction of $500 in the price of its Sunday Masters Experiences and an Exclusive Presidential House Masters Package. The four-day Masters Sunday in Luxury program is priced from $6,195 per person. The six-day Masters’ Ritz Carleton Presidential House Escape is priced from $8,655 per person.
Bicycle Adventures is celebrating its 30th anniversary with what it calls “retro pricing” on nine four-day tours in its 1984 Tour Series. The series includes three urban adventures, several national park programs and a triathlon. Each is priced $1,984. The programs include Death Valley National Park, Idaho Lakes and Rivers, Seattle Sampler, Three Lakes Triathlon Tour, San Juan Islands, Glacier National Park, Bend Breakaway, Zion National Park and Portland Pedaler.
Norman Carr Safaris is reducing rates on a seven-night Week on the Wild Side safari in Zambia during the country’s “Secret Season” or Emerald Season, when it is possible to see the wild dog and other carnivores, newborn impalas fawns and flocks of migratory birds in breeding plumage. With the reduction the price for the all-inclusive seven-night package starts at $3,060 per person. The agent net rate is $2,450 per person. The discount is valid for purchases through April 10.
