CEO Shepherd, CFO Fink Resign From Protravel International

The family atmosphere that helped build one of the leading luxury travel agencies in the business is no more.
Two high-ranking Protravel International executives have left in the wake of the January retirement of Priscilla Alexander, Protravel’s president.
Tony Shepherd and Tova Fink have both resigned. Shepherd, a 24-year Protravel veteran and son-in-law of Alexander, was the company’s chief operating officer.
Fink, Alexander’s cousin who joined Protravel in 2000 at Alexander's behest after a successful banking career, was chief financial officer.
In a surprise move less than two years ago, Alexander sold the agency to Tzell Travel, a unit of Travel Leaders Group. Travel Leaders then merged it with Tzell Travel, which it also owns, although Protravel continued to operate as a separate unit within Tzell.
Alexander retired in January from the company she founded in 1984. At the time, it was announced that Shepherd would report directly to Travel Leaders CEO Barry Liben.
Alexander foreshadowed her exit from the company in a 2005 interview, saying at the time it would make her feel better knowing the business was staying in the family.
“In a sense we are a family company, and part of my happiness in having Tony and Tova in the business is that I need a generation of people to be here when and if the day comes when I can’t continue to do this.” Alexander said then.
Protravel has been one of Virtuoso’s top performers and frequently wins sales production awards. It has sales reaching over $850 million and 22 branches across the U.S. and London, as well as a network of hosted travel agents.
Fink and Alexander recently purchased a Fifth Avenue co-op together in Manhattan for $4.1 million, according to the New York Observer.
