More than 650 travel agents attended this year’s Summit organized by The Mark Travel Corp (TMTC) held in Cancun, Oct 26-29.
The record-breaking event, the biggest in the company’s history, also attracted more than 200 suppliers and destination executives, who held one-on-one meetings and attended networking events with travel agent participants.
“As one of the last family-owned tour operators in the industry, we consider travel agents as extended members of our family and our events such as The Summit are a part of our dedication to their success today and in the future,” said Jacki Marks, executive vice president at The Mark Travel Corporation. “This event brings travel professionals together to discuss the evolving industry, learn best practices and network [and] is a perfect example of our commitment to support, empower and educate agents on the critical issues they face as business owners today. We’re proud to continue to invest in the agents who will continue to play a critical role in the industry.”
Attending agents were offered an extensive line up of more than 30 workshops, seminars and professional development courses covering such topics as customer engagement, business operations and supplier and destination information.
The event’s guiding themes covered the state of the travel industry, challenges facing agents as well as a look forward into what the future holds for agents. The program also explored developments in travel agent technology and how travel agents can succeed by adopting those technological advances.
Evening functions provided travel agents with ample time to network with one another, while also developing new relationships.
Also, with wellness being a key pillar for TMTC, morning yoga sessions and afternoon exercise classes were incorporated into the program.
