The Travel Institute has unveiled two new destination specialist (DS) courses – Northern and Central Italy, and Southern Italy and the Islands – growing its number of DS courses to 12.
Rather than offering a single DS Italy course, The Travel Institute divided the curriculum into two modules in order to help agents better manage and retain the considerable amount of content.
“The amount of insider information we had developed for Italy was beyond what could effectively be contained, and more importantly retained, in just one course,” said Pat Gagnon, CTC, director of program development for The Travel Institute. “Breaking the content into two allowed us to include a lot of insider information that will make our participants true experts of this perennial favorite vacation destination.”
The Northern and Central Italy course focuses on the country’s northwest regions of Piedmont and covers destinations southward to the Lazio region, including Rome and Vatican City.
The Southern Italy and the Islands course put the spotlight on the region of the country that stretches from Abruzzo, Molise and Puglia, and southward to the islands of Sicily and Sardinia.
The courses provide agents with comprehensive information on each region’s major cities, culture, geography, sites and attractions, culture, geography and transportation.
DS course sponsors include IC Bellagio, Insight Vacations, Trafalgar Tours and Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection.
