To help provide travelers with the high-speed internet connectivity they desire, several top travel brands have joined forces to form the Seamless Air Alliance.
Airbus, Delta Air Lines, OneWeb, Sprint and Bharti Airtel decided to work together with the intention of using satellite technology to provide Wi-Fi internet service to passengers inside the cabins of airplanes.
The Seamless Air Alliance will also help reduce costs for all parties involved while creating a smooth, positive user experience. The group is also looking to expand by adding other industry operators to streamline system integration and certification.
“We know that Delta customers have an expectation that their internet connection just works - no matter where they are in their travel journey,” Delta COO Gil West said in a statement. “Delta is constantly looking at innovative ways to improve the customer experience. We are excited to be collaborating with other visionary companies, and that our existing partner Gogo will be joining the alliance as Delta develops a system that not only benefits Delta customers, but the entire airline industry.”

“Easy-to-use, high-speed connectivity is part of the next revolution in aerospace,” Airbus digital transformation officer Marc Fontaine said in a statement. “We're excited to create this seamless experience for our airline customers and their passengers. As we showed with our Skywise aviation data platform, Airbus is committed to innovation that creates value across the aviation industry.”
By aligning many companies with the intention of improving internet connectivity on flights, the Seamless Air Alliance will provide open specifications for interoperability, increase accessibility for passengers and enable simple and integrated billing.
