A Once in a Lifetime Journey

Kristin Karst, Executive Vice President & Co-Owner of AmaWaterways, has experienced many travel experiences that have left her amazed.
A handful have actually changed her perspective on life.
One being her rare encounter with Silverback Mountain Gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.
After spending their honeymoon in Africa and falling in love with the destination, Kristin and her husband decided it was the perfect place to celebrate a milestone birthday. She was a bit apprehensive about signing up for the gorilla trek in Rwanda but soon found herself in the jungle up close and personal to these beautiful creatures.
It took the small group three hours to encounter a family of gorillas, and they were excited when the guide finally pointed them out. On the contrary to what she thought, Kristin explained her experience as “incredibly peaceful.”

They watched the gorillas interact nearby for an hour, but it went by in a blink of an eye. Luckily, they had another trek planned for the very next day.
Needless to say, Kristin was thankful she decided to take the trek with her husband and is happy to be able to share this once in a lifetime experience with the guests of AmaWaterways.
