Behind the Scenes at Windstar Cruises

Windstar Cruises is constantly making sure its small fleet of luxury cruise ships are up to speed with what guests are looking for. That’s why there is regularly scheduled maintenance and several drydocks for renovations and upgrades.
The Vice President of Expansion Projects, John Gunner, recently gave an inside look at the $250 Million Star Plus Initiative. This project includes the engines being replaced on the three Star-Class vessels and new guest spaces onboard, including a new restaurant.
Windstar is excited to be able to make these enhancements for guests, and the new engines will actually make the ships more environmentally friendly. Each ship will increase in length about 84 feet allowing room for these improvements.
In addition to the new restaurants, there will also be shops, spas and additional suites allowing for more guests onboard each sailing.
The increase will be just enough to add these exciting new areas without taking away from the small ship experience. All of the ships will still be able to access the smaller ports.
More details will become available as these enhancements progress, and the updates will soon be available on a microsite for guests to track progress.
