Whether it's grandma's homemade cookies or an exotic new dish from a foreign land, the holiday season offers up an array of delicious sweets to taste.

French Buche de Noel
Otherwise known as "The Yule Log" this dessert roll up featuring chocolate ganache and sponge cake with butter icing is a major hit on French dinner tables at Christmas.
Pan de Pascua in Chile
Ginger, honey, candied fruit and nuts make up this Chilean holiday treat. Pascua translates to Christmas as well as Easter in Chile and is must try to anyone looking to mix it up at their dessert table this holiday season.
Italian Struffoli
It may not be Italy’s top dessert, but struffoli is the perfect treat for anyone looking to try a new global treat. These fried dough balls are "coated in honey, cinnamon, sweet sprinkles and candied orange rind."

British Christmas Pudding
A classic dessert that "are often theatrically flambeed at the dinner table."
Cougnou in Belgium
A truly unique sweet with varying decorations depending on where you're at in Belgium, Cougnou is a bread with milk and raisins and "is made to represent the baby Jesus and traditionally given to children with a mug of hot chocolate."
Bolo Rei in Portugal
Bolo Rei translates to "King Cake" and is eaten from Christmas to January 6, a date that Portuguese refer to as Kings’ Day. A historic dish dating back to 1829, Bolo Rei is a "ring-shaped cake of dough stuffed with nuts and raisins and decorated with crystallized fruit."
Pavlova of Australia and New Zealand
There is debate as to which country this dish originated from, but it is said that this meringue dessert was created in honor of Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova when she visited down under.
Spanish Turron
A year round dessert that truly shines at Christmas time, turron is a "sweet confectionary made from sugar and egg white, with toasted almonds and candied fruit nestled within it."
