Don’t Get Left Behind: Playa on the Importance of Selling on Social Media

There’s no denying we live in a world of snap, swipe, ‘grams and retweets. A life sans social media is foreign to most millennials while anyone Gen X or older may forget what life was like before this tech took over the world. Me? I consider myself lucky to have three children who keep me on the leading edge and make sure I’m never #basic! The result? I’m connected 24/7. The question is, are you?
When Playa Resorts started the tagline “The Evolution of the All-Inclusive,” the company knew exactly what it was marketing. While the tagline is used to market the Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara collections, it also applies to all aspects of business — including social media. In the true sense of the term, we are so bae (aka “before anyone else” for anyone still living in 2015).
Let’s face it, whether it’s a cute cat video, election coverage or a hot new resort deal, since the inception of social networks, the way we digest information will never be the same. Is this sad? To some. To myself and the team at Playa Resorts, it’s glorious. It allows us to shout from the rooftop just how much we love what we do while also helping you build your business.
Fact: According to a recent study published in Agent@Home magazine, 55.4 percent of home-based agents state that they are actively using social media to market while 78 percent state that Facebook is their primary market. Fifty-eight percent of the same group said they need help. Are you shocked? I’m not! But let’s all agree these are some compelling figures. And, here’s some good news — we can help.

Did you know in 2016, Playa Hotels & Resorts launched its first automated program? The effort was launched in an effort to further help support travel agents with their social marketing efforts while providing their consumer-base with timely offers and factual information spanning all of Playa’s managed properties.
By signing on through the TA portal, agents have the ability to opt into weekly posts showcasing wedding offers and select specific content categories based upon the properties and type of product they sell. The program is free and is mainly focused on Facebook and Twitter. An alternative for photography lovers with a knack for Instagram, agents can also access re-grammable content via the Playa Resort’s Instagram account. Did I mention it’s all FREE?
The moral of this post? Don’t get left behind. There’s a world of snaps, grams and tweets just waiting for you. Get in the game, be social, get “lit” and as your “friends” increase so will your sales. And, if you’re not confident in social media, that’s okay too, because we’re here to help. If you have specific requests or have any questions regarding how to opt into preexisting programs, you know where you find me.
