Plant Your Legacy, Offset Your Stay at Alohilani Resort

Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach is renowned for its luxury offerings and one-of-a-kind amenities that have only gotten better in wake of a $125 million redevelopment. However, the resort also serves as the gateway to a once-in-a-lifetime legacy opportunity on Oahu's North Shore.
The resort has partnered with the non-profit Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative (HLRI) to allow guests to contribute to the ongoing effort to return native trees such as koa, sandalwood and milo trees to the North Shore via 500 acres at Gunstock Ranch.
Guests can plant their own tree via horseback, UTV or helicopter and return to see their tree again anytime they want. They can also come back to plant another.
So far, Alohilani has pledged to plant at least 100,000 trees with HLRI in hopes of reviving Hawaii’s endangered hardwood species and rehabilitating the native ecosystem.
By booking their own tree planting tour, guests will be helping to pump invaluable clean oxygen into the atmosphere. After all, one koa tree alone can offset a weeklong vacation for a family of four.
Guests will also experience some of the destination's most beautiful landscape en route to their tree-planting ceremony, whether approaching from land or the air.
There's even a $5 "tree fee" added to each stay at the resort that goes directly to HLRI’s reforestation program so everyone can do their part.
