Few places offer the allure that South Africa does. Home to stunning scenery, wildlife, and spectacular resorts, it has made its mark as a sought-after travel destination for sure. Let's take a look at a few of the reasons why. These might inspire you to book a trip of your own!
Kruger National Park
Kruger has the distinction of being the largest game reserve on the entire continent of Africa. Tourists frequently stop here to get a look at the diverse and breathtaking wildlife that call Africa home.
A few words of caution: Be brave, and be sure to do your homework ahead of time. The safaris are self-driven and take you through the home of some of Africa's most formidable beasts. It's truly unbelievable to watch a group of rhino run by your vehicle, or spy a hiding cheetah in the Safari brush. Settle in after a big adventure in one of the Menea luxury accommodations offered in the park. From a hair-raising adventure, to a five-star stay, Kruger National Park has a lot to offer.
Cape Town
Cape Town is a given when you're talking about visiting South Africa. There is definitely more here to do than you could ever squeeze into a week’s vacation. Saying there's something for everyone here is a vast understatement.
The beaches are some of the best in the world and their vibes vary from peaceful and relaxing to boisterous and water sports-focused. All of them are breathtaking and will quell the urges of your inner beach bum. The city also offers amazing botanical gardens and they are surrounded with wildlife.
However, if shopping and food are more your speed you will find some of the best chefs in Cape Town. Some of the finest retail stores in Africa are here as well. It would take you months to explore this entire spot and take in everything it has to offer.
Cape Winelands
If you know anything about wine, then you are privy to the fact that some of the best wines come from the Cape Winelands in South Africa. These lesser known valleys produce some of the finest grapes and are home to some very successful and world renowned wineries. Go for a tour on a few of these and be sure to go on several tastings. There are some wonderful Sherries and ports to try while you are there. From a fruity dry white to a full-bodied red, there is a bottle of wine waiting for you that will satisfy any wine aficionado’s tastes.
Drakensberg
AKA the “Dragons' Mountains,” this range is the tallest in southern Africa with the highest peaks exceeding 11,000 feet. The most striking geographical location in this chain of mountains is known as the Amphitheater. It is a valley nestled in between one large mountain in northern Drakensberg. It stretches in a semi circle around the base. On a clear day the colors look almost unreal and the echo in this valley is something of an anomaly due to its shape. The Amphitheater is worth a visit to take in its stunning natural beauty.
From safaris to shopping, South Africa has it all. Pack your suitcases and book your flight for the adventure of a lifetime. Yet also be prepared to relax. South African locals act as if they live on island time constantly. It is a refreshing break from the hurried pace of other places. You are sure to enjoy your stay and will probably keep your social media feeds active during your entire trip. After all, with a place this beautiful, who could resist the urge to post a few pics?
