To help travelers witness the total solar eclipse occurring August 21 across the United States, Southwest Airlines has identified scheduled flights most likely to experience maximum effects of the celestial shadow.
Passengers who book flights on the eclipse journeys will receive commemorative flare, including special viewing glasses, cosmic cocktails and social media engagement across the atmosphere on Southwest's gate-to-gate Wi-Fi.
"Not to throw too much shade but with 3,857 flights scheduled to operate that day using our all-Boeing 737 fleet, we'll be unmatched in offering hundreds of seats in the air over the continental U.S. that morning with a potential view of the rare sight," Southwest manager of meteorology Warren Qualley said in a statement.
"We plan to showcase the glow of our everyday Hospitality in a different light on these celebratory flights in our summer flight schedule and our team of Meteorologists is working hard to provide clear viewing of this solar spectacle from our flights!" Qualley continued. "The next total solar eclipse visible in the U.S. won't occur until Apr. 8th, 2024, so don't miss this opportunity!"

Travelers should not look directly at the sun, but the viewing glasses provided by Southwest will allow passengers to safely observe the eclipse.
Some of the flights that will offer the best view of the August 21 total solar eclipse include Flight 1375 from Seattle-Tacoma to St. Louis, Flight 1368 from Portland to St. Louis, Flight 1577 from Denver to St. Louis, Flight 301 from Denver to Nashville and Flight 1969 from Denver to Atlanta.
