As the summer travel season approaches, rail company Amtrak is offering families the chance to visit more than 500 destinations throughout the United States.
In addition to traveling in comfort on one of Amtrak's luxurious trains, customers who book early with Saver Fares can save up to 20 percent on their tickets. The discounted rates are in addition to everyday offers, including 50 percent off for children ages 2-12 and 15 percent off for seniors aged 62 years old and over.
For travelers in the Northeast, Amtrak trains will make stops in cities like Richmond, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City and Boston, where museums, fairs and family attractions are plentiful.
The rail company also offers the Auto Train between Virginia and Florida so customers can travel with their cars, vans, SUVs, motorcycles, small boats or jet-skis.

In the Midwest, Amtrak will travel to major vacation destinations, including Milwaukee, Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, Memphis and New Orleans. As for travelers on the West Coast, trips to San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and Portland could make for an unforgettable summer for the entire family.
Some travelers can't imagine hitting the road without their pets, and Amtrak has them covered too. The train company allows dogs and cats up to 20 pounds on trips of up to seven hours on most routes.
Tourists who like to bring their bicycles are also welcome to do so by bringing them onboard at approved locations.
