Enterprise Rent-A-Car released data from a new survey analyzing how more and more people are working on the weekend, cutting into opportunities to travel.
Enterprise's "On Weekend" survey revealed that 70 percent of responders work at least one weekend per month for an average of nearly nine hours. Another 63 percent of people surveyed said their employers expect them to work weekends and 61 percent said they have a hard time not thinking about work during the weekend.
Workers between the ages of 25 and 44 have the hardest time not focusing on work, as 74 percent complained about the issue as compared to just 49 percent of 45-60-year-olds and 39 percent of those who are 61 years old or older.
To help people take advantage of their time off during the weekends, Enterprise brought in psychotherapist Jonathan Alpert to provide tips to stressed-out workers. Alpert first said that people need to focus on positives instead of the negatives like it being a busy weekend or that the time off is too short.
"Above all else, it's important for people to remember that the weekends are their time to recharge and take a break," Alpert said in a statement. "Spend time with family or friends, go on a leisurely stroll or get out of town for a couple of nights. No matter what you do, the key is to try to take a break from work and unplug with the time you have."

Another helpful tip is to change your scenery by visiting sites and attractions close to home and making the most out of day trips. Instead of sleeping the day away, he encourages people to go away on vacation and unplug from technology in order to help avoid work-related issues arising during your time away.
As part of the survey, Enterprise also found that when asked what could make weekends better, people responded with exploring new places 54 percent of the time, getting out of town 51 percent of the time and more weekend trips 48 percent of the time.
