After previously revealing who its godmothers would be, Tauck has now officially christened its new Joy riverboat along the Danube River. Present for the ceremony in Straubing, Germany were Tauck family members, company executives, travel agents and special guests. The Joy follows the Grace, also launched this year.

Acting as the vessel's godmothers were Tauck employees Jacque Moran, Mary Murrin and Kristin Robinson. All three originally joined the company as "Tauck Directors," the line's moniker for tour directors, and have since been promoted to management positions.

Earlier, Tauck CEO Dan Mahar said, "On over 100 land and cruise itineraries, in more than 70 countries and on all seven continents, our Tauck Directors are the face of our company. They are the critical link between the meticulous care and planning we put into every one of our tours and cruises, and the actual experiences our guests enjoy. By honoring Jacque, Mary and Kristin, we're honoring all of our Tauck Directors around the world."

The Joy's claim to fame is fewer guests, just 130, serviced by a higher ratio of staff, including a Tauck Cruise Director as well as three Tauck Directors. As for hardware, it features the most 300-square-foot suites of any European riverboat - a total of twenty-two, each outfitted with two French balconies, floor-to-ceiling windows, a pull-out couch, walk-in closet and a marble bathroom.

Additionally, the riverboat carries thirty two 225-square-foot staterooms, eight of which are the line's signature terraced loft cabins with tall window seating. Another thirteen cabins round out the accommodations ranging in size from 150 to 190 square feet. All private rooms highlight in-cabin movies, a minibar, luxury toiletries and plush bedding: 100 percent goose down pillows, 400-thread-count linens and pillow-top mattresses.

Other venues onboard the Joy include an alternative casual restaurant beyond Compass Rose for fine dining, the Panorama Lounge, a fitness room, massage studio and salon and a Sun Deck complete with a putting green, plunge pool and outdoor seating.

The Joy will embark on "The Blue Danube," "Musical Magic Along the Blue Danube" and "Christmas Markets Along the Danube" itineraries, and in 2017, it will also feature the "Blue Danube: Family Riverboat Adventure" for multigenerational groups.
