Healthy living is an important priority for many people these days, and that’s something they may not necessarily want to abandon when they travel. Fortunately, that isn’t a worry for guests who travel via Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection.
The company—which specializes in providing upscale all-inclusive travel aboard one-of-a-kind luxury ships—has a multi-faceted Wellness Program that is designed to nourish and support the mind, body and spirit.
Guests have the opportunity to participate in a number of health and fitness activities, both while onboard the ship and when they are onshore. While on the ship, guests can visit the Serenity River Spa, which offers a variety of wellness treatments ranging from traditional Chinese massage to hot stone treatments. There’s even a Honey Body Beauty Treatment, which rids the body of toxins while infusing it with essential vitamins and minerals.
The spirit will be rejuvenated by the tranquil relaxation that a luxury riverboat cruise provides, particularly when guests receive the kind of top-notch attention and service Uniworld offers. A soothing yoga session or reflexology treatment can also help guests achieve that feeling of escape they may be seeking.
For the mind, there are Signature Lectures offered onboard, where guests can attend interactive presentations by historians, authors and other experts.
Guests seeking a more high-energy way to recharge have plenty of options, as well. The ship boasts a fully-equipped fitness center stocked with the latest state-of-the-art equipment. Fitness class options include a chance to practice the Five Tibetan Rites, a system of exercises said to date back to ancient times. Another popular offering: TRX® suspension bodyweight training, where users leverage gravity and their own body weight to maximize the benefits of doing a variety of exercise routines.
Some ships also have heated swimming pools, and guests staying in suite accomodations receive a complimentary session with a personal trainer.
When onshore, guests can take part in activities such as kayaking, hiking and biking. Outdoor excursions are led by local naturists and sports guides, or guests are free to explore on their own.
The menu selection is also designed with healthy living in mind. The “Travelling Lite” menu offers an assortment of healthy options, as well as vegetarian selections. The chefs take care to prepare all meals with the finest quality ingredients, including those obtained from local farmers’ markets and regional sources. The kitchen staff is always happy to make special arrangements to accommodate any individual dining preferences or needs a guest may have.
Based in Los Angeles, Uniworld offers all-inclusive itineraries in Europe and other parts of the world—a total of 22 rivers in 26 countries worldwide.
