World Post Day is on October 9, and you can do far more than celebrate the beauty of classic mail delivery. You can also win a wonderful trip to Belize.
The Belize Tourism Board is celebrating this Sunday's festivities by kicking off one heck of a travel campaign.
For the uninitiated, World Post Day is an annual event that honors the advent of the Universal Postal Union, which took place way back in 1874. To that end, the BTB noted that mail use has slowed to a trickle in recent years. To jumpstart its livelihood and to spark interest in its wonderful nation, the tourism board is accepting your best and brightest postcards.
Send them to the board and you may just win a trip to Belize. At the very least you will get a postcard in return that will feature some astounding tidbits about the country.
Some that may just entice you to visit.
As the video explains, just send a postcard from your home city - officials can't wait to see where they get missives - and send them to: Belize Tourism Board, Attn. World Post Day, P.O. Box 325, Belize City, Belize.

You have between this Sunday - which is apropos considering it's World Post Day - and November 9 to send something to the Belize Tourism Board.
And the lucky winner will be crowned on November 23, getting an opportunity to see the brilliance that is Belize.
Karen Bevans is the Director of Tourism at the Belize Tourism Board and explained the value of such a campaign: "In a world where billions of emails, text messages, Tweets, Snapchats and other digital communications are sent each day, nothing beats the excitement of opening the mailbox to find a handwritten postcard from a far-flung place. We know travelers are very curious about Belize, so we want to connect them directly with warm and friendly Belizeans who know this country best. We're also very excited to receive postcards from the U.S. and learn more about all the places our visitors live."
For the weekend, you may consider taking a step back and slowing down with how you communicate with your fellow human. To that end, you can send mail the old fashioned way and maybe, just maybe, win something special.
