As airports become more crowded throughout the world, it's becoming more commonplace for travelers to use luggage-shipping services to save time and headaches.
Luggage Forward, a Boston-based luggage shipping company, appears to be getting out ahead of this trend.
This week, Luggage Forward announced the acquisition of its eighth competitive brand since 2009, LugLess, which was featured on the ABC TV show "Shark Tank" and was recently named to Entrepreneur Magazine's "100 Brilliant Companies" list.
With the acquisition, Luggage Forward's brands now collectively represent more than 50 years of luggage shipping experience.
The company, which has been named to the Inc. 500|5000 list (which recognizes the fastest-growing private companies) for four consecutive years, aims to ease the stresses of travel. Customers book their luggage shipment online and schedule a pickup location such as their home or office. Luggage Forward will then ship the luggage directly to travelers' destination hotel, cruise ship and more. Luggage is guaranteed to arrive on time, or customers will receive their full money back plus $500.
Not only does the service allow travelers to bypass long check-in lines at airports, but travelers also don't have to worry about luggage fees, waiting for their luggage at the baggage claim or-worst of all-their luggage being lost. On top of that, their luggage is tracked electronically so they know where it is at all times.
Luggage Forward currently serves a variety of travelers, from students to business travelers to families and senior citizens. Acquiring LugLess, which has become popular with younger travelers and college students studying abroad, figures to only add to Luggage Forward's appeal. Bookings made with LugLess will now include Luggage Forward features such as best price assurance, the on-time guarantee and predictive tracking technology.

And, given the busy holiday season is fast approaching, it comes at a great time for travelers, too. Luggage Forward customers won't need to lug gifts around and fight the swarm of holiday travelers.
