American Express Travel has released its 2018 spring travel trend forecast revealing that Moscow is enjoying a surge of interest.
Other lesser-known destinations also are seeing increased attention from travelers, including Santiago, Chile; Botswana; and Doha, Qatar.
Each trending destination has its own circumstances behind its growth interest-from seasonal blooms in Amsterdam to off-season visitors to paradise.
Moscow
April and May are prime mints to visit Moscow and the bookings bear this out. The temperatures are ideal for sightseeing, the snow is gone and the city turns green as spring takes full effect. Bookings to Moscow are up 238 percent.
For the optimal time to visit the city, travel between May 1-9 for parades, fireworks and Russian street parties during a week of celebration.
Botswana
Botswana is seeing a surge in travel this spring-up more than 200 percent. American Express Travel data shows that some of the revved up interest comes from a visit by Prince Harry.
Spring is the opening of peak travel season to the region. The best months to visit are from April-October during the dry season while game-viewing is at its best.
Chile
Santiago, Chile, is drawing in more visitors this spring, which is fall in the Southern Hemisphere.
The country as a whole is seeing a rise in bookings of 91 percent, according to American Express Travel, but the central region and the capital of Santiago are seeing an even greater increase, 121 percent, as travelers are drawn in from around the world to visit its lush vineyards as harvest season approaches.
Greece
The island of Santorini, Greece, is also on trend. Spring travel to the island has increased 94 percent, and it is an ideal time to visit as the crowds that materialize during the high season have yet to materialize and visitors can feel as though they have the spellbinding seascape to themselves.
Doha, Qatar
Doha, capital of Qatar, is a modern and eclectic city, and travelers are taking notice of its high-end dining, world-class shopping, colorful souks and more.
Bookings to the city have increased 79 percent according to American Express Travel's data, and visiting during April is ideal for weather.
St. Louis
Here in the states, St. Louis, Missouri, is trending with travelers. As the botanical gardens come into full bloom, bookings are coming up as well.
The city has seen an increase of 60 percent, which makes sense. St. Louis is ideal for a weekend getaway, offering visitors breweries, baseball and live music performances as well as the hip district known as "The Loop" with bars, galleries and restaurants.
Amsterdam
Amsterdam is well known as a popular spring destination. American Express Travel found that bookings to the city are up 32 percent this spring.
The entire country of the Netherlands is known for its famous tulips in spring, however, other fun activities include King's Day on April 27, 2018, a citywide celebration in Amsterdam that showcases Holland's rich history and culture.
Peru
Peru is also proving popular this spring. Cusco and Lima are both up in travel bookings. Cusco, the gateway to Machu Picchu, is up 56 percent and Lima, is up 22 percent.
Georgia
Savannah, Georgia, is also drawing its fair share of interest this spring with an increase of 26 percent. The River Street Seafood Festival is a good reason to stop in for a visit in early May.
Tahiti
Spending some time in paradise is trending this spring. The Islands of Tahiti are up 20 percent, according to American Express Travel and Papeete, the archipelago's capital and international air gateway, is up 25 percent. Right now, the late summer and early fall months in Tahiti often draw travelers with cheaper hotel prices, smaller crowds and lush landscapes.
