Los Cabos will host the inaugural Ultimate Waterman's Challenge (UWC) this summer.
The four-day event is scheduled for August 24-27, 2017 and will feature surfing, spear fishing challenges, stand-up paddle boarding and live music along the renowned Monuments Beach.
The Cape, a Thompson Hotel will host the UWC and is partnering with pro surfers Tim Curran and Rob Machado, adventure tour operator Alex Vidal of InCabo Travel, the Los Cabos Tourism Board and Quiksilver to jump start the event.
In addition to Curran and Machado, the event will feature appearances by surf superstars Damien Hobgood and Diego Cadena. Celebrity participants will also include World Champion stand-up paddle board racer and spear fishing master Fernando Stalla as well as spear fishing and free diver pro Sarah Ruth.
Highlights will include a surf competition pitting Mexico against the U.S., aerial surf shows, stand-up paddle boarding competitions and more.
Rooftop concerts will be held at The Cape's sixth-story rooftop lounge. Guests will be asked to make a $10 donation; However, all other exhibition events will be free to the public.
The Cape is currently offering an "Ultimate Waterman's Challenge" package to commemorate the event. The package includes VIP roundtrip airport transfers, daily breakfast for two and a pair of complimentary surfboards for guests to use during their stay. The package starts at $513 for two guests for three nights.

Conservation is a key element of UWC. All trash accumulated from the event will be recycled or composted. What's more, the festival will utilize a cycling program to reduce its carbon footprint.
UWC will also kick off with a beach cleanup effort led by volunteers.
