Hilton Worldwide announced today the signing of a new management agreement with PT Putragaya Wahana to introduce Waldorf Astoria Jakarta.
Scheduled to open in 2018, the 181-room hotel will become Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts' second property in Indonesia.
"Today's announcement underlines Waldorf Astoria's commitment to strengthening and expanding our growing portfolio of landmark properties in key destinations around the world," said John Vanderslice, global head of luxury brands, Hilton Worldwide. "Waldorf Astoria has become the luxury hotel brand for defining unforgettable experiences for discerning travelers. Guests of Waldorf Astoria Jakarta can expect to receive True Waldorf Service resulting in a truly luxurious experience."
Waldorf Astoria Jakarta will be located along Jalan M.H. Thamrin road in the heart of the central business district and is approximately 32 kilometers away from the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
The hotel's immediate vicinity is home to country headquarters of multinational corporations, government offices and embassies and is a prime environment for corporate travelers to conduct business. In addition, the hotel offers direct access to the city's transportation network as well as convenient access to fine dining places, tourist landmarks, entertainment venues and popular shopping malls.
"Opening a Waldorf Astoria hotel in a cosmopolitan capital city such as Jakarta will augment the brand's awareness in Southeast Asia and pave the way for future landmark projects in the region," said Andrew Clough, senior vice president of development, Middle East & Asia Pacific, Hilton Worldwide. "We are pleased to be working with an established partner like PT Putragaya Wahana to introduce our trademark of luxury to Jakarta."
Waldorf Astoria Jakarta, built as a 74-story mixed-use development, is set to be the tallest hotel in the city. Its rooms and suites will be sized at 60 square meters, and it will offer culinary experiences at its all-day dining restaurant, specialty restaurant, destination bar and the signature Peacock Alley lobby lounge.
The hotel will also host exclusive meetings and events within its 2,000-square-meter ballroom, several state-of-the-art meeting rooms and a business center. An outdoor pool, health club, spa, and library lounge will also be part of Waldorf Astoria Jakarta's environment.
"We are excited to partner with Hilton Worldwide in our vision to build an iconic landmark right in the heart of Jakarta's financial district," said Alvin Gozali, President Director, PT Putragaya Wahana. "As a real estate developer, we're eager to welcome one of the most luxurious and prestigious hotel brands to the capital of Indonesia. With the third busiest airport in Asia, we are confident that the development of this property will further enhance the position of Jakarta as a major gateway city."
Waldorf Astoria Jakarta will participate in Hilton HHonors, the only guest rewards program that allows members to earn Points & Miles for the same stay and redeem points for free nights with No Blackout Dates at more than 4,000 hotels worldwide.
