The eight-year-old boy who fell into a pool on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Anthem of the Seas in June has died from his injuries.
According to The Associated Press, the New York City medical examiner's office revealed on Monday that the boy-identified as Prince Adepoju of Maryland-had died as a result of an accidental drowning on June 30.
Staten Island University hospital told local media outlets that Adepoju died on July 2.
The Anthem of the Seas cruise ship departed from New York Harbor and was en route to the Caribbean when the accident happened. The United States Coast Guard reported Adepoju was in the water for eight-to-10 minutes before he was removed.
The New York City medical examiner revealed that a seizure disorder was also a contributing factor in the boy's death. As a result of the death, Royal Caribbean released a statement saying the company was heartbroken over the incident, and that their thoughts and prayers are with the boy's family.
