The woman is believed to have been British but has not been named, according to the Independent. She was on vacation in Tenerife with her partner and their 5-year-old daughter since mid-May. They were staying at the Paraiso del Sur apartment block, which is near the popular tourist destination of Playa Paraiso.

The woman’s partner, a British man, has been arrested in connection with the incident. Police told the Independent that he will appear in a local court.

The couple was seen on TV cameras as they first arrived at the apartment, and the footage appears to show the man kicking and punching the woman, the Independent said.
