One of the best ways to savor a previously unfamiliar city is to just get on out and walk — amble around and uncover some unforgettable sights and sounds. Now there is an app to help those travelers who prefer this explorative method.

Likeways is a budding new app that takes a bit of the guesswork out of scouring a city by foot simply by lending a suggested route that will have you immersed in the good stuff, leaving the boring parts to those other travelers who forgot to download the latest tech tool.

Using the app is quite simple and takes all of a few moments. According to the instructions, you input where you want to go and wait. From there, Likeways compiles various attractions in the area and gives you two routes: the shortest and the most interesting.

Now we downloaded the app to take a cursory glance, and it seems as though you can dictate what you are in the mood for with restaurants, pubs, shops, museums and art galleries highlighted.

There is also a button that allows you to show the points of interest on the app.

Now we took all of a few moments with the app, and plan on diving in further over time, but there are some items we would like to see in the future.

There doesn’t seem to be a way to click and get more information on those various points of interest at the moment, which is one thing that might be helpful in deciding if you are going to take a detour for something that might not be all that and a bag of chips.

With that said, we are beyond excited for an app that understands us as travelers.

Now the normal tourist traps are fine, but we love to lace up our sneakers and explore a city’s heart one block at a time. Something like Likeways should make that all the more enjoyable.
