Travelers Can Now Save on Gas Through Priceline.com
Priceline.com has partnered with the Fuel Rewards Program to help travelers save money on gas.
According to a recent American Express study, 85 percent of Americans—or 198 million people—are planning on traveling this summer.
On top of that, 77 percent of Americans planning to travel this summer intend to travel within the U.S., an increase of over 40 percent from 2011.
To that end, members of the Fuel Rewards Program, a free coalition loyalty program, can now save money on gas while booking flights, hotel stays and rental cars through Priceline.com.
The formula is simple: Fuel Rewards members save 5 cents per gallon at participating gas stations for every $50 spent on Priceline.com. And no need to worry about the gas stations being hard to find: 12,000 Shell gas stations across the country are participating.
Fuel Rewards members can also earn extra gas savings by shopping through partner retailers, restaurants and grocery brands. That includes more than 4,500 retail locations, more than 10,000 restaurants and more than 700 online merchants nationwide.
The Fuel Rewards program has been offering fuel savings for more than three years. It currently boasts a membership of 5.5 million members across all 50 U.S. states, with the average member saving 25 cents per gallon, according to an infographic by Excentus, the company behind the Fuel Rewards program.
In all, consumers save an average of more than $15 million in gas per month via the program ($550 million saved so far). One member has saved $23,940 in gas through the program, according to Excentus.
