Utrip, a free travel planning platform that builds personalized itineraries, announced its first five U.S. destinations on Tuesday: Seattle, Dallas, San Francisco, Portland and Los Angeles.

Utrip, founded in Seattle in 2011, creates itineraries based on travelers' interests and budget, drawing from its database of local attractions, activities, restaurants and more. Then, travelers can book their trip on the website and share their itinerary with their friends. On top of that, several local experts have been enlisted to provide recommendations on their favorite spots and create featured trips of their own.

For example, for those thinking about traveling to Seattle, you can check out some culinary-focused trips from James Beard award-winning chef and author Tom Douglas, such as "Eat Your Way Through Seattle" and "Seafood Lovers Seattle."

In San Francisco, Chef Mark Dommen of Michelin-starred One Market has created "Culinary San Francisco."

Neiman Marcus Fashion Director Ken Downing has created the "Dallas Shopping and Art" trip, complete with his favorite hotspots in the Big "D."

"I love being able to help promote Seattle to travelers worldwide," Douglas said, via a press release. "Utrip makes it easy for travelers to experience the destination highlights that most interest them, be it food, art or history. Just like a culinary experience, every palate is different, and Utrip is all about personalizing travel for their users."

As if catering to the growing trends of personalization and authenticity wasn't enough, Utrip also has a self-titled mobile app that allows travelers to check out their itinerary and receive personalized itineraries while they are exploring the city.

A white-label version of Utrip's platform, Utrip PRO, was also released earlier this month. Utrip Pro allows DMOs and hospitality groups to provide personalized travel planning services on their own sites.

That's in addition to a complete revamping of Utrip's homepage on its website, www.utrip.com.

The expansion of Utrip, which began offering travel planning in Europe, marks an exciting time for the company as it continues to grow.

"We are so excited to be unveiling U.S. destinations to answer the demand for, and enthusiasm from, our existing and new customers," said Gilad Berenstein, chief executive officer and founder of Utrip. "Thousands of European travelers have been able to simplify and personalize their travel planning with Utrip, and now it is time to bring our platform to the U.S. market."
