American aircraft builder Boeing announced that deliveries of its 787 Dreamliner planes had been delayed again due to a manufacturing issue.

According to The Associated Press, Boeing revealed on Tuesday that fittings on part of the tail, called the horizontal stabilizer, are now being inspected for a “nonconforming condition,” company officials said.

The horizontal stabilizer inspections and any associated repairs are expected to impact near-term deliveries, but Boeing said the issues wouldn’t disrupt the company’s forecast of deliveries for the full year.

The aircraft manufacturer did not reveal how many 787 Dreamliners were impacted by the possible defect, but did acknowledge that the flaw was “not a safety issue,” and that planes in service would be permitted to continue flying.

Boeing officials said the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and airlines had been notified of the issues with the horizontal stabilizers.

The company has faced multiple production problems with the 787 and the 737 MAX in recent months that pushed back some estimated delivery dates for airlines that expected new planes in time for the busy summer season.

Last month, Boeing announced the release of a data modeling tool, dubbed the Boeing Cascade Climate Impact Model, to help support commercial aviation's path toward net zero carbon emissions.

The Cascade tool identifies the effects of a range of sustainability solutions to reduce aviation's carbon emissions and is accessible on the airplane manufacturer’s new Sustainable Aerospace Together hub.
