How would you like to maybe get off your plane and pet a giraffe right away, for instance? Now you can.The African nation of Uganda has announced a new tourism initiative. The country said it will expand for airfields at its national wildlife parks so that jets can land right next to wild animals. And people can get off there instead of at the National Airport in Entebbe. The announcement was made at an African tourism expo and is part of Uganda’s plan to boost tourism in the country. Now there will be no waiting to start your African adventure or a safari. The newly upgraded airfields will be renovated in Kasese, Kidepo, Pakuba and Kisoro. All will accept international flights and eliminate the need to go through the cities of Entebbe or Kampala for impression needs.Lilly Ajarova, the CEO of the Uganda Tourism Board, said in a statement: “This year’s expo not only points to our recovery but also highlights our readiness to host the tourism community once again. The expo has grown to become a signature event for Uganda’s tourism. That way, Uganda will receive more travelers, and its associated benefits include increased tourism revenue and employment.”She added that as a tourism board, Uganda will seek responsible and sustainable tourism.“We will promote the use of recyclable materials, reduction of waste but also promote the conservation of the environment while respecting the host communities,” she said.
