Andrea Brunais


Andrea Brunais is a freelance writer living in Bluefield, West Virginia. Previously, she spent more than 20 years as a reporter and editor at Knight-Ridder, Media General and Creative Loafing newspapers, followed by a career in higher-education public relations. Journalism honors include the Robert Kennedy journalism Award, first-place from the Florida Press Club for commentary writing, and first-place from the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association for an investigative reporting series. She is the author of two books – Mercedes Wore Black and Night of the Litani – and editor of a collection of essays, On the Drop Side of Yonder. A Michigan native and an instructor at the annual Roanoke Regional Writers Conference, Andrea is a graduate of the University of South Florida, where she was named Outstanding Graduate in Journalism, with a double major in mass communications and political science.
