Just above 300 meters above sea level, the Valley of the Sun, as Phoenix is locally known, offers a sharp and hot contrast to the neighboring high desert of New Mexico. Walking outside can feel like stepping into an oven, popular activities here include river-rafting, lounging by the pool and shopping. Though golf may seem implausible in the desert, the city is dotted with lush green courses.

The capital of Arizona is the most populous city of the Southwest and 6th largest in the United States. Aside from spas and rejuvinating resorts, Phoenix offers guests the best of culture and nightlife, with the Arizona Opera, Phoenix Art Museum and the Native American Heard Museum. In addition, nature is a large reason people visit this arid climate. Piestewa peak and Phoenix Mountains park are popular areas that offer 360 degree views of the surrounding environment.
