Home to rolling hills, wide prairies, vast deserts and large cities, thousands of travelers come to Texas each year in search of big fun, exciting attractions, rich history and great food. Known as the "Lone Star State," Texas is home to the original cowboy, American football and some of the best barbecue and steakhouses in the world. From natural wonders to the countless museums and galleries and offbeat attractions, a Texas vacation is sure to be a memorable experience.

As the capital of Texas, Austin is known for its thriving live music scene which is concentrated around the 6th Street area of town. There you’ll find a wide range of shops, restaurants, bars and music venues. Visit the Congress Ave Bridge in downtown Austin from mid-March to early-November to see the largest colony of urban bats in North America. Each night at dusk the bats flood out from under the bridge, blanketing the evening sky.

The largest city in Texas, Houston is home to over two million residents, as well as popular tourist attractions such as NASA’s Johnson Space Center, the Astrodome and the Houston Museum of Natural Science. The active visual and performing arts scene within Houston’s Theatre Districts is a 17-block area with nine performing arts organizations. The many venues, including the entertainment complex, Bayou Place, offer local and international performances and shows year-round.

Being the second largest state in the U.S., Texas offers so many diverse and unique areas, it would take a while to see them all. Whether visiting The Alamo in San Antonio or spending your days lakeside in Dallas, there is sure to be something on everyone’s must-see list. No matter where your travels in Texas take you, Southern hospitality, mouth-watering cuisine and larger than life attractions are around every corner.
