Toms River, New Jersey

Now this is quite a distance from being a typical Jersey suburb, but that’s also why families like it so much. At the southern end of the Jersey Shore, Toms River is close enough to the beach to easily get there within minutes, far enough to not have to pay beach-front rents and mortgages. One of the big draws is the number of organized activities for kids. For instance, on an annual basis Toms River has produced some of the state’s – and, in some years, some of the country’s – best Little League baseball program.
