September 11 Memorials You Must Experience

There are numerous sites memorializing the September 11, 2001 attacks around the world. In honor of the 17th anniversary Tuesday, here are five you'll want to experience for yourself.

The National September 11 Memorial and Museum in New York City will be closed during the observance of Tuesday's 17th anniversary but is typically open daily. Visitors can purchase museum tickets up to six months in advance.

Jersey City's Empty Sky Memorial pays tribute to New Jersey's victims of the September 11 attacks. Located in Liberty City Park just across from the World Trade Center site, the can't-miss memorial was dedicated just one day prior to the 10th anniversary of the attacks.

The Pentagon Memorial in Arlington, Virginia just outside of Washington, D.C. honors the 184 lives lost in the attack on The Pentagon. With limited parking available, this memorial is best visited via the Metro.

September 11 memorials aren't limited to the U.S. Officially opened two years after the attacks, this memorial in London's Grosvenor Square Garden was created in consultation with family members who lost loved ones that day.

Located just north of Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the Flight 93 National Memorial honors the passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93 who fought back against the hijackers, preventing them from reaching their targeted destination.
