Travel agency airline ticket sales for July 2025 rose to $8.1 billion, which represents a 7% increase over the same period in 2024 and a 2% increase year over year, which the Airlines Reporting Company (ARC) said set a record for the highest ticket sales it has ever recorded.
The boost in ticket sales, ARC said, was buttressed by robust demand for US travel, with 16 million domestic trips reported for July, up 13% month over month and 4% year over year.
In all, ARC reported 24.9 million passenger trips, representing a 10% increase over July 2024 and 3% year over year.
On the international front, ARC reported $8.9 million in sales, with a 5% month-over-month increase and a 2% increase year over year.
The average roundtrip ticket price for July was $528 was down one percentage point month-over-month and up 1% year-over-year.
The average price for economy tickets stood at $482, which was the same as July 2024 and up 4% year over year.
The average roundtrip premium class ticket price (first class, business class and business class premium) for July, however, was $1,262, up 5 percent month-to-month and 4% increase year over year.
“July’s results show continued demand for air travel, with ARC-accredited agency sales and passenger trips higher year-over-year for the second-straight month,” said ARC Chief Commercial Officer Steve Solomon.
“Travel agencies are starting the second half of the year with positive momentum as ticketing trends have normalized after some volatility earlier in the year.”
