ASTA Contributes $10K to Federal Employees Amid Government Shutdown

The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) is stepping up to support federal employees during the partial government shutdown.

ASTA announced a partnership with the Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund (FEEA) and plans to contribute $10,000 to support FEEA's emergency assistance program, which provides grants to eligible federal employees to help cover essential living expenses during periods of missed pay.

The program benefits frontline workers, including TSA officers, who have been heavily impacted by the weeks-long work stoppage.

"Travel advisors see firsthand the vital role TSA officers and other federal employees play in keeping the travel system running safely and smoothly. This is an opportunity to step up in a meaningful way to support those who continue to serve the public despite financial uncertainty," ASTA President and CEO Zane Kerby said in a statement accompanying Wednesday's announcement.

ASTA is encouraging its members, partners and the traveling public to join the cause, with donations going toward FEEA's established relief programs.
