Avelo Airlines Expands Presence at Connecticut's Tweed-New Haven Airport

After recently ramping up its operations at Delaware's Wilmington Airport, Avelo Airlines announced its growing its footprint at Southern Connecticut's Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN).

On Tuesday, the ultra-low-cost carrier announced a new nonstop route to New Orleans available for as low as $79 one-way. Avelo will also double its flights from HVN to Puerto Rico this winter and expand its lineup of Boeing Next Generation 737-800s to further grow its network.

Avelo service between HVN and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) will begin November 14 and operate on Thursdays and Sundays.

Starting November 8, Avelo will double its frequency of flights from HVN to San Juan's Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU), operating four flights a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

November will also see the carrier expand its Boeing Next Generation 737-800s fleet at HVN. Avelo will have as many as eight aircraft dedicated to the airport. What's more, over half of its 19 aircraft will be dedicated to the state of Connecticut.
