Avelo Airlines announced it would launch two new nonstop
routes from Wilmington Airport in Delaware and offer special introductory
one-way fares.
Located just a few miles from Philadelphia, Avelo’s new
flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida, are scheduled
to launch in November. Once the service debuts, the airline will serve 15
nonstop destinations from its Philadelphia-Delaware Valley base.
“Since taking flight in February, more than 125,000
Customers have discovered the magical convenience, reliability and
affordability of flying Avelo at Greater Philly's most travel-friendly airport
— Wilmington Airport,” Avelo CEO Andrew Levy said.
“Today's historic service expansion is the latest example of
the smooth and seamless travel experience Avelo is bringing to the four-state
Delaware Valley region,” Levy continued. “With the second-largest Puerto Rican
community in the U.S., Avelo is making it easier than ever for friends and
family to reconnect on both ends of this exciting new Caribbean route.”
To celebrate the new routes, Avelo introduced limited-time, one-way
fares between Wilmington and San Juan’s Luis Munoz Marín International Airport start
at $99, while fares for flights between Delaware and Sarasota Bradenton
International Airport start at $49.
Both new routes offer twice-weekly nonstop service, with Puerto
Rico flights launching on November 15 and Florida starting on November 2. The
new flights will utilize the 189-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
“And with winter right around the corner, San Juan and
Sarasota are the latest examples of how Avelo is inspiring travel across the
region with an irresistible mix of popular destinations to choose from,” Levy
said.
Avelo unveiled the new service during a ceremony at Wilmington
Airport, which was hosted by Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) and Avelo and
was attended by local and state political and community officials.
