WHY IT RATES: Travel agents and advisors working with clients who fly trans-Pacific routes should be taking note of the chances Delta is implementing on flights to key destinations in the East.-Donald Wood, Breaking News Senior Writer.

More options, choice and comfort are on the way for Delta customers traveling to and from top Asian destinations at its Seattle-Tacoma International Airport hub beginning July 1.

"As Seattle's largest global airline, Delta will nearly double the premium seat offerings to both local and connecting customers in our top Asian markets by the end of this summer, with additional services to come," said Glen Hauenstein, Delta's President. "It's our latest step as we continually expand and enhance our Seattle hub to provide customers with a world-class experience as they travel."

Customers will begin to see these expanded products on Seattle flights this summer:

-Shanghai effective July 1

-Seoul-Incheon effective Aug. 1

-Tokyo-Narita effective Aug. 31

Delta SkyMiles members have the ability to upgrade their travel using their miles, even after they initially book a flight. Miles can be used to purchase an upgrade to a Delta One Suite, Delta Premium Select or Delta Comfort + on the new Seattle trans-Pacific flights. Customers can use delta.com or the Fly Delta app.

Award-winning onboard attributes

Customers will enjoy memory foam cushions and in-seat power ports at every seat, full-spectrum LED ambient lighting that displays differing lighting schemes corresponding to phases of flight, spacious and easy-to-access overhead bins, and thousands of hours of complimentary entertainment via seatback screens throughout the aircraft. Additional benefits are provided in each seating option include:

-Delta One Suite (29): The award-winning Delta One Suites offer a private, personal experience, with a full-height door at every suite for enhanced privacy and comfort. Each suite features a fully flat-bed seat with direct aisle access, as well as more stowage for personal items, larger in-flight entertainment screens and memory foam enhanced comfort cushions.

-Delta Premium Select (28): Designed with comfort in mind, Delta Premium Select offers more personal space with up to 38 inches of pitch, seat width of 18.5 inches, up to seven inches of recline, adjustable leg and head rests and water bottle stowage. Customers will arrive well-rested thanks to additional space, dedicated service and amenity kits with all the all the travel essentials needed to settle in.

-Delta Comfort+ (56): An enhanced seating option that features 34 inches of pitch, up to five inches of recline, dedicated overhead bin space and placement just in front of the Main Cabin.

-Main Cabin (168): Featuring up to 33 inches of pitch and up to four inches of recline, seating also includes thoughtful attributes like foam memory cushions, complimentary seatback screen entertainment, in addition to world-class service from Delta flight attendants and Delta's unmatched operational reliability.

The aircraft will be the first Delta widebody to feature the new wireless IFE system developed by Delta Flight Products, the airline's wholly owned cabin interior start-up. The aircraft is also equipped with high-speed 2Ku internet connectivity and customers will have access to free mobile messaging while on board through iMessage, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

The A330-900neo aircraft also reduces the travel carbon footprint, with increased fuel efficiency per seat of more than 20 percent when compared with previous generation aircraft. Delta will offer its flagship Delta One Suite and Delta Premium Select products on three aircraft types including the A350 and updated Boeing 777s.

Delta's Seattle Hub

On March 1, Delta will begin operating its Seattle-Tokyo-Narita route with Airbus A350 aircraft, featuring Delta One Suite and Delta Premium Select options. Delta currently operates the Boeing 767-300ER on Seattle service to Shanghai and Seoul-Incheon. Delta will also begin operating two of its six daily flights between Seattle and San Jose, California with its new Airbus A220 aircraft.

Delta operates more than 150 peak-day departures to more than 50 destinations from its hub at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The 21,000 square foot Delta Sky Club was awarded "North America's Leading Airport Lounge" for the third consecutive year, lauding its excellence for guests to relax and recharge. In December, Sea-Tac marked a milestone in the construction of the new international arrivals facility by raising and placing the final roof beam in the structure. The 450,000 sq. ft. facility, expected to open in 2020, will be able to serve twice the number of passengers per hour, have over twice the number of passport check positions, utilize enhanced technology for quicker passport check clearance and simplify baggage claim for customers.
