This
is a rare piece of good news for Boeing.
The
Federal Aviation Administration has
begun trials for the new Boeing 777X model plane.
It
is good news on two fronts. For one, Boeing has been criticized and under much
scrutiny in the past half a year. Secondly, this is a project and an airplane
that has been delayed for 10 years for various reasons.
The
FAA trial includes everything from design to endurance. There are four
different types of the 777X – the 779XY, the 779XW, the 779XX and the 779XZ.
Boeing
has already secured several orders for the planes, most notably from Emirates
Airlines, Lufthansa, All Nippon, Qatar and Singapore. Boeing is also in talks
with Korean Air about an order that could be worth as much as $4 million. However,
most airline executives do not expect delivery until 2025 or 2026.
Korean
Air confirmed that talks with Boeing are ongoing but did not elaborate.
Boeing
is under
investigation by several government agencies, which has certainly
contributed to the delays.
