Travelers now have access to a new AI travel booking tool to help them find the most affordable airfares available.
Travel search company Skyscanner has launched its app in ChatGPT, allowing travelers to now use the popular large language model to book Skyscanner’s cheap flights.
With the new plug-in, travelers can submit a simple request within ChatGPT along the lines of “Skyscanner, find me the cheapest flight to New York in December,” the travel company says, and users will see flight options from Skyscanner populate in response.
Travelers will then be able to use a message in the Skyscanner app to compare fares and adjust itinerary details like airports and dates.
The current iteration of Skyscanner’s app sees 160 million users per month, who use the platform to compare the most flight prices.
“We’ve been at the forefront of cutting-edge flight search, ensuring that travellers have all the right tools to reduce friction and give them more confidence in finding the right flight for them,” said Piero Sierra, Skyscanner’s chief AI officer. “Travellers can now access the Skyscanner app in ChatGPT to search for the best options and flight prices for their trip.”
The travel tech company is already using AI tools within its own app and site, including its rental car and hotel booking chatbots, as well as a flight finder tool to help travelers uncover the best fares to World Cup games this summer.
Skyscanner plans to continue expanding its arsenal of AI search features to give travelers more conversation-based trip planning tools.
“We’ll continue evolving travel search beyond form-fills toward dynamic, answer-led experiences,” Sierra said. “We’ll scale natural language search with explainability, and expand agentic scenarios only where trust and economics work. Success in AI will be defined by better decisions and earned traveller trust.”
