Southwest Airlines Expands in Columbus

Southwest Airlines might want to think about painting one of its planes in scarlet and gray.

The carrier is expanding at John Glenn Airport in Columbus, Ohio. Scarlet and gray are the colors of Ohio State University, located in the same city.

Southwest has a goal to add more nonstop flights.

The increased presence was first notified in a press release by the airport. For instance, starting in October, Southwest will offer near-daily flights to San Diego instead of summer-only weekly flights.

"San Diego has proven to be a popular destination, and this increased frequency addresses the strong demand since the route launched last year," President & CEO of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority Joe Nardone said.

Southwest already flies more than 20 nonstop flights out of Columbus, including.:

• Cancun
• Chicago (Midway)
• Dallas (Love Field)
• Denver
• Fort Lauderdale
• Fort Myers
