Phoenix is getting its first-ever nonstop flight to Asia.
Taiwanese carrier Starlux Airlines plans to launch new nonstop service between Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) and Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) in early 2026.
The route is still pending final government approval, but when it does officially launch, Starlux will operate three or four flights per week between PHX and TPE, according to the office of Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego.
Founded in 2020 by the former chairman of EVA Air, which is also based in Taiwan, Starlux Airlines is known for its luxurious onboard experience across all of its cabins. It has rapidly been expanding in the United States, with nonstop flights from Taipei to Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle. On June 2, it will launch its fourth U.S. destination: Ontario, California.
From Taipei, passengers can also connect to other cities throughout Asia, as Starlux also operates routes to Japan, Macau, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.
The new route to Phoenix comes as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is investing $165 billion in its Phoenix facilities, according to Mayor Gallego’s office, increasing the need for airlift between the two cities. “I knew from the moment I set foot in Phoenix that STARLUX should make the investment to fly here,” said K.W. Chang, the airline’s chairman. “Not only is the growth of business between Taipei and Phoenix staggering, it’s a perfect match for our level of service. We are proud and honored to be the first carrier to provide nonstop Asia service for the Phoenix community.”
Starlux will use an Airbus A350-900 on the new route, which offers 306 seats, including four in first class, 26 in business class, 36 in premium economy, and 240 in economy. Fares will go on sale once the route receives final regulatory approval.
