There are few things worse than getting to the airport to find your flight is delayed or canceled.

Whether you already have tickets or are planning a flight, it’s good to know which airports are the worst for delays and cancelations.

Between the erratic weather in the summer, labor shortages, and the switch to 5G, issues are bound to pop up.

So, to help passengers predict which airports are most likely to experience delays or cancellations this summer, InsureMyTrip researchers analyzed flight data for Q1 of 2023 from the Department of Transportation (DOT).

Here’s what the travel experts found:

Top 10 Airports with the Highest Percentage of Delays

  • Honolulu, HI: Daniel K. Inouye International
  • Las Vegas, NV: Harry Reid International
  • San Francisco, CA: San Francisco International
  • Palm Beach, FL: Palm Beach International
  • Maui. HI: Official Kahului Airport
  • Kauai. HI: Lihue Airport
  • San Juan, PR: Luis Muñoz Marín International
  • Fort Lauderdale, FL: Fort Lauderdale – Hollywood International
  • Orlando, FL: Orlando International
  • San Diego, CA: San Diego International

There are no surprises here. Most of the delays occurred at high-volume, popular airports.

Top 10 Airports with the Highest Percentage of Cancellations

  • Dallas, TX: Dallas Love Field
  • Dallas, TX: Dallas/Fort Worth International
  • Chicago, IL: Chicago Midway International
  • Milwaukee, WI: Milwaukee Mitchell International
  • Minneapolis-Saint Paul, MN: Minneapolis – Saint Paul International
  • Burbank, CA: Hollywood Burbank Airport
  • Austin, TX: Austin – Bergstrom International
  • Denver, CO: Denver International
  • Portland, OR: Portland International
  • Boston, MA: Logan International

Milwaukee is something of a surprise, but not the top three. Dallas and Chicago are hubs for two of the nation's largest carriers in Southwest Airlines and American Airlines.
